2017年2月17日、野党から「あなたは森友学園に関与してるんじゃないですか？」と問われた安倍晋三氏は「私や妻が関係していたことになれば総理大臣だけでなく議員をやめます」と答えた。それにより関係していたことが表沙汰にならないよう役人による忖度が始まった。
その森友学園への国有地売却をめぐる財務省の公文書改ざんに関与させられ、自から命を絶った同省近畿財務局職員赤木俊夫氏が残していたという通称「赤木ファイル」。
存在するかどうかも「明らかにできない」としてきた国が一転、その存在を認めた。
その2年前に提出された書類は見事なまでに黒塗り（所謂、のり弁）になっていたので、入手した赤木ファイルの一部（P96）を白米の写真の上に印字し、文字部分の上を黒いフィルムで覆った。

■Statement
On February 17, 2017, when asked by an opposition party, "Aren't you involved in the Moritomo Gakuen case?", Shinzo Abe replied, "If it turns out that I or my wife were involved, I will resign not only as Prime Minister but also as a member of parliament." This led to officials acting out of deference to prevent any involvement from becoming public.
The so-called "Akagi File" was allegedly left behind by Toshio Akagi, an employee of the Kinki Local Finance Bureau of the Ministry of Finance who took his own life after being forced to falsify official documents concerning the sale of state-owned land to Moritomo Gakuen.
The government, which had previously stated it "couldn't even be revealed" whether the file existed, suddenly reversed course and admitted its existence.
The documents submitted two years prior were heavily redacted (a so-called "nori-bento" style), so a portion of the Akagi File (P96) that we obtained was printed on a photograph of white rice, and the text was covered with black film.
