■ステートメント
日本人は拝金主義の割には、お金について語ることや稼ぐことにどこか疚しさのような気持ちを抱き、蓋をするようなことがある。
圧縮された「円」はお金、黒い取っ手の金色の鍋蓋でフタしている様子の記号…または創作漢字といってもいいだろう。
その創作漢字と少し離れた位置に、透明の板が吊られ、赤い文字で「表」と記してある。
表の上の四角の枠をレリーフに重ねてみると、創作漢字と「表」が合体して「裏」という漢字の姿が浮かび上がるのだ。
「表」の存在と相反するものであって片方だけでは成り立たないし、「表」からはみ出して顔を出している部分の様子が面白い。
漢字をテーマにしたレリーフ+インスタレーション作品。

■Statement
Despite their materialistic nature, Japanese people often feel a sense of guilt about talking about or earning money, and tend to suppress those feelings.
The compressed "yen" symbol represents money, a symbol of a golden pot lid with a black handle covering it…or perhaps it could be called a fictional kanji character.
A transparent plate is suspended a short distance away from this fictional character, with the character "表" (omote, meaning "front") written in red.
When the square frame above "表" is superimposed onto the relief, the fictional character and "表" combine to reveal the character "裏" (ura, meaning "back" or "reverse").
It is the opposite of "表" and cannot exist without the other, and the way the part that protrudes from "表" is intriguing.
A relief and installation piece themed around kanji characters.
