■Statement
A controversy arose in a Tokyo junior high school regarding a sex education lesson conducted March 2018.
The Tokyo Metropolitan Board of Education took issue not only with the nonsensical lesson plan stating, "Sexual intercourse is the deepest form of intimacy. Not having sex is the safest option," but also because the lesson included specific discussions on contraception and abortion.
Apparently, even the words "sexual intercourse," "contraception," and "abortion" are prohibited, even if they don't go as far as "sex" or "ejaculation inside."
Sexual intercourse is not something that can be taught; it's an instinctual desire. Yet, without knowledge of artificial methods like "contraception" and "abortion," it's obvious that tragedy can result.
Abortions among junior and senior high school students, prostitution for pocket money, abandonment and death of infants due to economic hardship, and sexual abuse by family members are all examples, but perhaps the closed-mindedness towards "sex" is what gives rise to the "herbivore" genre, and scandals such as prostitution by politicians who have followed the elite path, and conversely, it may also be contributing to the declining birthrate.
It is also true that the quality of sex education taught in schools is poor, and that there is a national character that is closed off to talking about sex in the first place.
It is ridiculous that educators in the country are working so hard to come up with names for what are commonly called "omanko" or "omeko" such as "mechinchin," "ochonchon," "opanpon," "omapoko," "wareme-chan," "otenten," and "odaiji-chan" because they think it is bad for education or embarrassing.
What difference does it make to change the name?
In the early 1980s, a single vertical line in the center of a double circle. A mark with short lines radiating around it was often seen on the walls of school buildings and public restrooms.
At first glance, it looks like a map symbol, but it is actually a graphic representation of female genitalia.People from the Showa era feel nostalgic about it.
Of course, it was delinquent boys who would graffiti such things in public places, but they probably hadn't seen the real thing, and compared to today, it was difficult to obtain uncensored images and other information, so they probably learned about it from older people, or at best watched adult videos, but their expressive abilities were limited, so they could only draw something like this.
However, for some reason, this mark spread almost nationwide even in an era without the internet.
It can be imagined that it was quite stimulating for adolescent boys. As long as this unnatural Japanese sex education, conducted by educators who have abandoned sex education, continues during compulsory education, students may learn obscene words, but they have no experience and do not understand what it is.
Isn't it natural to recognize and be grateful that our current existence is thanks to our ancestors, including our parents, having had sex? If we abandon our culture of concealment and focus on education that helps people mature, we might be able to mitigate the declining birthrate.
This is a message to adults who, due to complications during adolescence, still hold distorted views on "sex" even as adults.
