■ステートメント
その昔、江戸時代の日本でも疫病が流行した際、「私の姿を描いた絵を人々に早々に見せよ。」と言った妖怪がいたそうだ。
見た目は半人半魚で、長髪、またクチバシのように伸びた唇も特徴で、その名を「アマビエ」と呼ばれている。
そんな2020年春現在、コロナウイルスが世界で大流行し、日々感染者や死者は増え続け、パニックになっている。
もし、現代にもアマビエがいたら藁にもすがりたい気持ちではあるが見当たらない。
それどころか、SNSには「しっかりやってくれている安倍さんに頼るしかない」と書き込むツイートも見かけて頭痛がすることもある。
アマビエをローマ字で書くと「Amabie」。その綴りの中には「ABE」という文字が隠されていたのだ。
彼ら安倍信者にとっては、安倍氏がアマビエに見えているのかもしれない。

■Statement
Long ago, during the Edo period in Japan, when an epidemic broke out, there was a yokai (supernatural creature) that said, "Show people pictures of me as soon as possible."
It was described as half-human, half-fish, with long hair and distinctive beak-like lips, and was called "Amabie."
Now, in the spring of 2020, the coronavirus is spreading rapidly around the world, with the number of infected people and deaths increasing daily, causing panic.
If Amabie existed in modern times, one would want to grasp at any straw, but it's nowhere to be found.
On the contrary, I sometimes see tweets on social media saying, "We have no choice but to rely on Mr. Abe, who is doing a good job," which gives me a headache.
When Amabie is written in Roman letters, it's "Amabie." The letters "ABE" are hidden within that spelling.
For these Abe supporters, Mr. Abe may be seen as Amabie.
